It must be cause I didn't eat much yesterday, but suddenly reading menus tonight sounded like a good pasttime. I had some chips earlier, but I guess it didn't do much to stop the urge.

Oh yeah, I found out the potato dish I get at La Madeline's is called a 'Potato Galette'. it is a potato cake. I was very close with my thought that it might be gateau... so many years ago I took French. maybe galette is a tiny cake?

Also, mom mentioned this place across from La Madeline's called Cafe Express, so we perused their menu. apparently the one across the way doesn't have all the good things on the sample menu which I guess sucks since those were the most appealing. arr!

I managed to finish that book I've been dragging myself through for what seems like decades (not cause it wasn't good, but cause I was always too tired to read it at night and was too preoccupied during the day). it made me weepy... darn me and my reading sad parts during *the time* moments since I got weepy through the whole war bit last month's *time* ..ahah. this time I cried cause of the idea of making them live through to reunite and continue their love in the form of a book retelling their story... I think in reality they didn't live through it I'm figuring and this made me cry and cry then cry for the character's old age and the losing of her memory soon... don't mind me. it could've also been more dramatic since I kept repeating the song 'Moving' by Seascapes of the Interior in the background. well, just twice. that is a long song. still, I'm such a masochist.

Now, I started a new book: When We Were Orphans by Kazuo Ishiguro. I cannot tell by page one whether it'll be a sad one or not.

Yeah, I just feel a bit blah due to this... somewhat have an urge to talk, but cannot come up with anything to say. headaches block out that part of the brain needed to produce a detailed sentence perhaps. earlier I had a conversation that consisted of "heh yeah" "they're alright" "indeed" "night" ..well, okay there was more to it than that, but that was towards the end when the headache got more annoying!

Also, now I'm on page 8 of the new book... the writing sure has a proper tone to it, like this: "Dreadfully sorry, old fellow. That was awfully tactless of me." of course, it does take place in London in 1930. the last book I read began in London in 1935. complete coincidence here. this one is more proper though.

The paper had something on Modest Mouse today (it seems since The Guest was here, they must've picked one up).. mom brought it up since well, I got the album on Friday. it was a review. twas given a B+. heh. yeah, I listened to it again today. tracks 2 and 3 (The World at Large and Float On) are the best. track 4 (Ocean Breathes Salty) is good. the rest are just there, but still decent.

The highlight of the day was taking a shower. I skipped one yesterday and it made me feel awfully dirty.

Perhaps I shall have some chips now.. either that or cinnamon rolls. one or the other sounds good.
