I love boomkat

Package I received yesterday. I'm expecting two more as well -- one is a preorder -- since I'm obsessed

I love 3" cds.. I have an arcade fire one, too but this one fit 22min on it instead of just 9min
Honestly, I think boomkat is my top UK online store like tonevendor is my top U.S. online store.
Of course, it does take two weeks exactly to receive things from them, but it's always worth it. they usually have the weirder stuff that I want. other stores may have it as well, but maybe not all of it... I have looked now and then when I was deciding whether or not to go for it. this time, two of them could've been gotten elsewhere on some U.S. website I never used before, but the machinefabriek and hot chip 7" single needed to be gotten at a UK store (really, on the former, I'm not sure if it's anywhere else.. didn't really look), so I figured, eh, why not.
The 'Summer and Smiles of Finland' thing was that fonal records comp. it was pretty good though maybe some of it was too.... Finnish. I had heard ES before and that was pretty fantastic. one day I'll have to order that one though I have one album on my iTunes playlist.
The ones I'm waiting for currently:
Bibio - Hand Cranked
Hauschka - What a Day 7"
Machinefabriek - Chinese (Un)popular Song
I'm Not a Gun - We Think As Instruments (preorder)
One other thing that makes boomkat tops is the very tempting jukebox which usually contains the very best clips from each album. really, I'm more likely to buy stuff I hadn't heard by listening to it. it's much more satisfying to get something I've never heard of and am unsure beyond the beautiful clips than it is to buy something I've heard in full and just pick up for morals sake (which doesn't mean I still don't like these packages either; just less exciting.. I have a list of stuff still yet to purchase from the full albums list, y'know... I'm Not a Gun is the only one on the list currently that I preordered / heard in full, but next up I plan to preorder Hot Chip - The Warning.. probably from amazon UK.. I want it for my bday).

Date: 2006-03-16 10:32 pm (UTC)I have the Laika single.. it has one 2min+ song on it along with the single. I think the price of it was for the packaging really. I know I enjoyed staring at it for hours after listening to the two tracks.. bwah!

Date: 2006-03-16 10:46 pm (UTC)As for the extra song, nope, not a remix.. just an odd song which I only began to get into once it ended.. sad. it's called 'My Buddy (Alvino Rey Orchestra)'.

Date: 2006-03-16 11:15 pm (UTC)Oh yeah, I also forgot I had downloaded some bsides thing that was pretty good.. one of the songs even had their name in it. at first I was skeptical it was even them, but on that christmas recording, they did one of the tracks that was on there, so I assume it was them messing around.. heh.
Also, can't forget the SFU song 'Cold Wind' which is very good.
